There's absolutely nothing new about the music in this two disc set, but it's worth the $20 just for the art on this disc, which is, like on every other disc of theirs, fucking stunning. Just like the Reckoning EP, it's not Matt, but the shit is still Iced Earth and it's still fuckin great. Definitely get your hands on this ASAP, and try to get the limited edition double disc version if you can.

This is the first release since Matt Barlow left the band and was replaced by Tim "Ripper" Owens. Initially I didn't really like it from the demos, but on the cd for some reason it's really growing on me and although no one can ever do what Matt did, I think I'm going to like the Ripper Owens Iced Earth. Check this one out if you have a chance, the disc is like $8 and the art, as always with Iced Earth, is fucking stunning.

Alive In Athens is one of the best live albums out there. Since the set spans 3 discs the band not only gets to play all of their popular songs but also includes live recordings of fan favorites that you might not get to hear live yourself very often, such as Dante's Inferno. There's a 2 disc version in the US, but if you buy this you definitely want the 3 disc version. The artwork on the covers and discs in this set is some of the best I've ever seen, which is nothing unusual for Iced Earth.
