This album continues the assault on your ears, and Jeff Loomis continues to amaze metal fans across the country. The solo in "Born" is one of their best. "Sentient 6" is a great song too, it is a sequel/continuance to "The Learning". |

God Damn, Nevermore never disappoints. It's classic Nevermore, kind of a mix of old and new. It's still got some of the new style but it's fast and aggresive like some of the older material. If you're a fan if long blistering insane guitar solos, you're absolutely gonna love this record. Track 2, "Ambivalent" has one of the best guitar solos I've ever heard, and just went you think it's over, it reloads and whips your ass again. Amazing. Other than Ambivalent, best tracks are Enemies Of Reality, Never Purify, I Voyager, and Create the Infinite. The "original" version suffered from poor production due to a shoestring budget CM gave the band to work with (as part of an attempt at contract leverage) and there's so much audio clipping its nearly unlistenable. Fortunately they went back and releasted a remastered version in 2005 (the black cover) that sounds the way the band had always intended it to. |

This is one of the best CDs ever recorded..and like most of Nevermore's discs, the art is outstanding. I have very generously gone fucking psycho with my scanner to provide you with ALL of the art. (Say thank you) The "Gold Version" is a limited edition box set that was only sold in Europe and was very difficult to obtain. * = Bonus Track only available in Box Set version. + = "The Sound Of Silence" words/music by Paul Simon, arranged by Nevermore. † = "Love Bites" Originally recorded by Judas Priest. |

It's hard to tell from online scans...but this CD has the BEST art I've ever seen for a disc. The inlay, back cover, the CD itself, all beautifully done. You should buy this CD just for the art value alone, it's only $10! It's hard to see the quality in the scans, but what looks like a bronzeish haze is in reality a kind of gold flaking that looks much nicer on the real art. I've tried to clean it up, but the scans still don't do it justice. Check out the "pages" and the disc, they scanned the best. Oh yeah, it's great music too! No bad tracks on this one, all five are excellent. |

Most people consider this their favorite Nevermore CD because it's the most "metal". If you prefer the harder, faster Nevermore tracks, may I suggest The Seven Tongues of God, and The Learning which is Nevermore's overall best song. |
